DJID/SDPPI certification services for toy guitars with Bluetooth, wireless microphones, applications, and other wireless functions in Indonesia.
A toy guitar may be a simple electronic musical toy that only produces internally generated sounds. More advanced products, however, can incorporate Bluetooth, wireless microphones, smartphone connectivity, remote-control functions, or other RF technologies.
Where a toy guitar incorporates active wireless communication, Postel/DJID Certification requirements should be assessed according to the exact product configuration, including operating frequencies, transmission power, wireless modules, transmitters, receivers, antennas, firmware, and RF test reports.
Indonesia’s principal telecommunications-equipment certification framework remains Minister of Communication and Informatics Regulation Number 3 of 2024, which is currently in force and replaced Regulation Number 16 of 2018. JDIH Kemkomdigi
Do Toy Guitars Require Postel Certification?
Not every toy guitar has the same Postel requirements.
A battery-powered guitar containing only buttons, lights, speakers, prerecorded music, or local sound effects has a different technical configuration from a toy that contains an active radio interface.
Postel assessment becomes relevant where the product incorporates Bluetooth, WiFi, a wireless microphone, proprietary RF, or another active wireless technology.
The commercial description “electronic toy guitar” or “smart guitar” is therefore not sufficient on its own.
Toy Guitars with Bluetooth
Bluetooth can allow a toy guitar to connect to smartphones or tablets.
It may be used for Bluetooth audio, interactive music applications, learning modes, pairing, or other entertainment functions.
Minister of Communication and Informatics Decision Number 260 of 2024 establishes the Short Range Device Technical Standards and defines Bluetooth IEEE 802.15.1 as short-range data communication operating in the 2400–2483.5 MHz band. Postel Sertifikasi
DJID Certificates issued during 2026 also continue to reference Decision Number 260 of 2024 for Bluetooth equipment. e-Sertifikasi
The assessment should identify the Bluetooth version, module or chipset, transmission power, antenna configuration, and enabled radio functions.
Bluetooth Audio Functions
Some toy guitars can also function as Bluetooth speakers.
A smartphone can transmit music wirelessly to the guitar, which reproduces the sound through its built-in speaker.
Although its primary purpose is still musical play, Bluetooth remains an active radio-communication function that needs to be considered during assessment.
The manufacturer’s module datasheet and RF documentation should correspond to the actual product configuration.
Toy Guitars with Wireless Microphones
Some toy guitars are sold as karaoke sets and include a microphone.
A conventional wired microphone does not establish a radio link.
A wireless microphone, however, can contain a transmitter while the toy guitar contains a corresponding receiver.
Operating frequency, transmission power, modulation, antennas, transmitters, and receivers should therefore be identified.
Where a wireless microphone is included in the commercial set, technical assessment should consider the complete radio system.
Toy Guitars with Smartphone Applications
More advanced educational toy guitars may communicate with applications for rhythm games, music lessons, song selection, or other interactive functions.
An application by itself does not determine Postel requirements.
The relevant issue is how the application communicates with the toy.
Bluetooth connectivity requires assessment of the Bluetooth interface, while WiFi-based connectivity needs to be reviewed according to the applicable RLAN requirements.
Toy Guitars with WiFi
WiFi is less common in basic toy guitars but may be incorporated into smart educational products with online content or cloud-based functions.
DJID’s current Technical Standard database continues to list Minister of Communication and Digital Decision Number 12 of 2025 as an applicable standard for Radio Local Area Network equipment. e-Sertifikasi
Where both Bluetooth and WiFi are enabled, each radio technology should be included in the technical assessment.
Operating Frequency and Transmission Power
Operating frequency and transmission power are important parameters for wireless-product certification.
However, they need to be evaluated together with radio technology, modulation, bandwidth, antenna configuration, and the applicable Technical Standard.
A packaging statement such as “2.4 GHz Wireless” does not provide enough technical information.
The manufacturer should provide the exact frequency range, transmission power, radio module or chipset, antenna information, and available RF test documentation.
Toy Guitars as Short Range Devices
Bluetooth and various other short-range radio systems can fall within the Short Range Device framework.
Decision Number 260 of 2024 defines SRDs as telecommunications equipment presenting a relatively low risk of causing harmful interference and establishes Technical Standards for multiple short-range technologies. Postel Sertifikasi
Short communication range does not automatically mean that a product is exempt from Postel Certification.
The actual frequency, transmission power, technology, bandwidth, modulation, and antenna configuration still need to be reviewed.
Class-Licensed Spectrum and Equipment Certification
Use of class-licensed spectrum should not be confused with an equipment-certification exemption.
Indonesia’s class-license framework under Regulation Number 2 of 2023 was amended by Minister of Communication and Digital Regulation Number 2 of 2025, which remains in force. JDIH Kemkomdigi
Class licensing concerns permitted spectrum use, while equipment certification demonstrates conformity with the applicable Technical Standards.
Both issues therefore need to be considered separately.
Are Devices Below 10 mW Exempt?
Not automatically.
Regulation Number 3 of 2024 contains a specific provision for certain equipment incorporating a telecommunications feature below 10 mW and only one identical telecommunications feature.
Under qualifying conditions, this mechanism can allow multiple variants to be covered by one Certificate.
It is a variant-coverage provision, rather than a general rule making every low-power wireless product exempt from Postel Certification.
Is an Existing Bluetooth Module Report Sufficient?
Not necessarily.
A toy guitar may use a Bluetooth module with an existing laboratory report or LHU.
The documentation can support certification, but the final equipment should still be linked to the tested module configuration.
DJID’s current e-Sertifikasi requirements state that equipment using a module test report needs a block diagram, a photograph showing the installed module location, and a declaration identifying the module brand/type and the final equipment in which it is used. e-Sertifikasi
Antennas, firmware, transmission-power settings, and enabled radio modes should also be reviewed.
RF Test Reports for Toy Guitars
An RF test report provides evidence of the radio configuration that has actually been tested.
It may contain operating frequencies, transmission power, modulation, bandwidth, unwanted emissions, and test conditions.
DJID’s current certification requirements specify an LHU/test report issued by a designated domestic laboratory or a recognised overseas laboratory under the applicable framework. e-Sertifikasi
CE or FCC documentation may support the assessment, but it does not automatically replace Indonesian DJID/SDPPI Certification.
Documents for Postel Certification
For an initial assessment, businesses should generally prepare:
- Photographs of the toy guitar and wireless accessories.
- Brand, model, datasheet, and user manual.
- Bluetooth, WiFi, or RF module datasheets.
- Operating frequency and transmission power.
- RF test reports, where available.
- Antenna and manufacturer information.
Where the product includes a wireless microphone or another wireless accessory, its technical documentation should also be prepared.
DJID’s current e-Sertifikasi requirements for new Certificate applications include NIB and OSS access for business applicants, laboratory reports, technical specifications, a Declaration of Conformity, and additional supporting documentation according to the equipment configuration. e-Sertifikasi
Multiple Toy Guitar Models
A manufacturer may offer several toy guitars with different colours, shapes, characters, button arrangements, speaker designs, or packaging.
External differences do not necessarily indicate different radio hardware.
Conversely, visually similar guitars may contain different Bluetooth modules, PCBs, antennas, firmware, or wireless accessories.
Potential model grouping should therefore be determined by technical similarity, rather than appearance alone.
Our Postel Certification Process for Toy Guitars
The process should begin with a technical assessment of the exact model intended for importation or commercial distribution.
Bluetooth, wireless microphones, WiFi, proprietary RF, operating frequencies, transmission power, modules, antennas, transmitters, receivers, and available RF reports are identified first.
The applicable Technical Standards and testing requirements can then be determined.
For business applicants, Regulation Number 3 of 2024 provides that Certificate applications are submitted through OSS integrated with the Directorate General’s certification service facility. JDIH Kemkomdigi
Certificate Period and Import Activities
Under Regulation Number 3 of 2024, the Certificate itself is not time-limited.
However, the Certificate holder may manufacture, assemble, or import the equipment for trade and/or use in Indonesia for up to three years from the Certificate issuance date. Continued activity beyond that period requires renewed conformity with the applicable Technical Standards and a new Certificate. JDIH Kemkomdigi
Importers making recurring shipments of the same toy-guitar model should therefore monitor the Certificate issuance date.
Labeling After Certification
Certified telecommunications equipment is also subject to regulatory-marking requirements.
The annex to Regulation Number 3 of 2024 provides formats covering the Certificate number and PLG ID, QR Code, and Warning Sign. JDIH Kemkomdigi
Because toy guitars may have small bodies and extensive decorative graphics, the regulatory-marking area should ideally be considered before mass production.
The commercial product, brand, model, and packaging should also remain consistent with the certified configuration.
Postel Certification and Toy-Safety Requirements
Postel/DJID Certification focuses on telecommunications and wireless functions incorporated into the toy guitar.
Toy-product safety requirements address a separate area of compliance.
DJID Certification for Bluetooth, WiFi, wireless microphones, or proprietary RF therefore does not automatically replace applicable toy-safety or SNI requirements.
Likewise, toy-safety compliance does not automatically replace Postel Certification for active radio functions.
Why Pre-Import Assessment Matters
Toy guitars with almost identical external designs may contain different wireless hardware.
Manufacturers can change modules, PCBs, antennas, firmware, chipsets, or wireless accessories without significantly changing the appearance of the product.
Assessment before a large purchase order or shipment helps confirm the exact model, operating frequencies, transmission power, modules, antennas, wireless accessories, and RF documentation.
This reduces the risk of inconsistencies between the actual product, laboratory reports, technical documentation, packaging, and DJID/SDPPI Certificate.
Conclusion
Postel Certification services for toy guitars help businesses determine DJID/SDPPI requirements for products incorporating Bluetooth, wireless microphones, WiFi, smartphone applications, or other RF technologies.
Not every electronic toy guitar has the same certification requirements. A non-wireless product should be distinguished from a guitar containing active radio communication.
For wireless models, the assessment should identify operating frequencies, transmission power, modules, antennas, transmitters, receivers, firmware, and RF test reports. Bluetooth and other relevant short-range technologies can be assessed against Decision Number 260 of 2024, which continues to appear on DJID Certificates issued in 2026. Postel Sertifikasi
A technical assessment before importation or mass production can help businesses prepare testing, supporting documentation, model grouping, labeling, and DJID/SDPPI Certification more accurately.
