DJID/SDPPI certification services for remote control toy tanks in Indonesia.
Remote control toy tanks use wireless communication between a controller and the toy vehicle. The radio system may control movement, steering, turret functions, lighting, sound, and other interactive features.
Where the product contains RF, Bluetooth, WiFi, or another wireless technology, its technical configuration needs to be assessed to determine the applicable Postel/DJID Certification requirements.
Indonesia’s current telecommunications equipment and device certification framework is governed by Minister of Communication and Informatics Regulation Number 3 of 2024, which replaced Regulation Number 16 of 2018. JDIH Komdigi
Do Remote Control Toy Tanks Require Postel Certification?
Certification requirements should be determined from the actual wireless communication system rather than the commercial product name alone.
Two toy tanks that look almost identical may use different RF modules, frequencies, output power levels, antennas, or controllers.
Biruni Consulting therefore performs a technical assessment of the actual product before determining the appropriate DJID/SDPPI Certification approach.
RF Systems in Remote Control Toy Tanks
In a typical RC tank, the controller contains a transmitter that sends radio commands to a receiver installed in the tank.
Those commands may control movement, steering, turret rotation, sound, lights, or other functions.
Some products also contain two-way communication, telemetry, Bluetooth, WiFi, or other wireless features.
The controller and toy unit should therefore be assessed as parts of the complete radio communication system.
Frequency and Transmission Power Assessment
Operating frequency and transmission power are important certification parameters.
The relevant information is normally available in the product datasheet, controller specifications, RF module datasheet, or RF test report.
Indonesia’s class-license spectrum framework is currently based on Regulation Number 2 of 2023 as amended by Minister of Communication and Digital Regulation Number 2 of 2025. The 2025 amendment remains in force and updates spectrum provisions for class-licensed equipment groups, including SRD categories. JDIH Komdigi
A toy tank should therefore not be assumed to comply with Indonesian requirements merely because the same model is already marketed in another country.
Toy Tanks and Short Range Devices
Many remote control toys operate using short-range radio communication and may fall within technical categories associated with Short Range Devices.
Minister of Communication and Informatics Decision Number 260 of 2024 remains listed in DJID’s official regulatory database as the Technical Standard for Short Range Devices. Postel
The exact application of the standard depends on the frequency, output power, bandwidth, modulation, and radio functions of the product.
Class-license spectrum use also does not create an automatic exemption from equipment certification. DJID’s official spectrum-service information explains that individual station licensing is not required for class-license use, while the applicable technical and device-certification requirements still need to be fulfilled. The Remote Controller Must Also Be Reviewed
The remote controller is normally the main radio transmitter in an RC toy tank.
Its model, operating frequency, RF output power, module, antenna, and communication configuration should therefore be included in the assessment.
If the same tank is supplied with different controller versions, the configurations should be compared before determining the certification scope.
Toy Tanks with Bluetooth or WiFi
Some modern RC tanks can also connect to smartphones.
Bluetooth may support pairing or app-based control, while WiFi may be used for applications, onboard cameras, or video streaming.
When several wireless technologies are incorporated into one product, each radio function should be identified and reviewed.
For WiFi/RLAN equipment, Minister of Communication and Digital Decision Number 12 of 2025 is currently listed by DJID as the regulation covering class-license spectrum and Technical Standards for Radio Local Area Network equipment. Postel
A toy tank combining proprietary RF with Bluetooth or WiFi may therefore require a broader assessment than a basic single-radio RC product.
Is a Certified RF Module Enough?
Not necessarily.
An existing module certificate or RF test report can be useful supporting documentation, but the final toy still needs to be checked.
Integration may affect the antenna, output power, firmware, enclosure, or enabled RF functions.
The module documentation should therefore be compared with the specifications of the final RC tank.
Documents for Toy Tank Certification
For an initial assessment, companies should generally prepare product and controller photos, the brand and model, product datasheets, user manuals, RF module or controller specifications, operating frequency, transmission power, antenna information, and available RF test reports.
The manufacturer and country of manufacture should also be confirmed.
Where Bluetooth or WiFi is incorporated into the toy, technical information for those wireless functions should be included as well.
Testing Requirements
Testing requirements depend on the actual radio configuration, applicable Indonesian Technical Standards, and the supporting laboratory documents available.
Foreign RF reports may support the process, but the report still needs to be reviewed against the product model, frequency range, transmission power, module, antenna, and test standard.
Regulation Number 3 of 2024 establishes Indonesia’s certification framework and conformity requirements for telecommunications equipment and devices. JDIH Komdigi
CE, FCC, or other foreign compliance documentation therefore does not automatically replace DJID/SDPPI Certification.
Can Several Toy Tank Models Share One Certificate?
Possibly, depending on the technical configuration and applicable regulatory criteria.
Different colors or body designs do not necessarily mean that separate certificates are required. On the other hand, changes to the RF module, transmitter, frequency, output power, antenna, or wireless functions may affect certification scope.
Regulation Number 3 of 2024 contains specific provisions that may allow more than one variant to be covered by one Certificate for certain equipment configurations when the regulatory conditions are fulfilled. JDIH Komdigi
Model grouping should therefore be assessed before the application is submitted.
Our Postel Certification Process for Toy Tanks
Biruni Consulting can assist from the initial technical assessment through the DJID/SDPPI Certification process.
The assessment starts by identifying the product, controller, RF technology, frequency, transmission power, modules, and antennas. Available test reports and manufacturer documents are then reviewed against the applicable Technical Standards.
Once the certification route and supporting documents are established, the process can continue with document preparation, testing coordination where required, and certification assistance.
Regulation Number 3 of 2024 provides for electronic Certificate issuance through the applicable government system for the relevant application route. JDIH Komdigi
Certificate Period and Labeling
Under Regulation Number 3 of 2024, the Certificate itself is not time-limited.
However, the Certificate holder may manufacture, assemble, or import the equipment for trade and/or use in Indonesia for up to three years from the Certificate issuance date. JDIH Komdigi
Certified equipment is also subject to regulatory labeling requirements. The prescribed format includes the Certificate number and PLG ID, QR Code, and warning sign. JDIH Komdigi
For compact toys and remote controllers, labeling should ideally be considered before mass production and shipment.
Postel Certification and Toy Compliance
Postel/DJID Certification focuses on the telecommunications and wireless functions incorporated into the toy tank.
Toy safety and other product-compliance requirements are separate matters.
Postel Certification therefore does not automatically replace applicable toy safety requirements, and toy-product compliance does not automatically satisfy telecommunications requirements for RF, Bluetooth, or WiFi functions.
Why Pre-Import Assessment Matters
Remote control toys are often produced in several radio versions using the same housing and commercial design.
A manufacturer may change the RF chipset, controller, firmware, or antenna depending on the target country or production batch.
Completing the assessment before shipment helps identify testing requirements, certificate scope, model-grouping possibilities, labeling requirements, and any manufacturer documents that need to be obtained before the products enter Indonesia.
Conclusion
Postel Certification services for toy tanks help businesses determine the applicable DJID/SDPPI requirements for remote control products incorporating RF, Bluetooth, WiFi, or other wireless technologies.
Operating frequency, transmission power, controllers, transmitters, receivers, RF modules, antennas, and the complete communication configuration should be reviewed.
An assessment before importation or mass production can help businesses prepare certification, testing, technical documentation, model grouping, and labeling more efficiently
