DJID/SDPPI certification services for wireless and remote control dinosaur toys in Indonesia.
Dinosaur toys are increasingly equipped with remote controls, Bluetooth, RF communication, smartphone connectivity, and other interactive wireless features.
These radio functions may be used to control movement, sounds, lighting, animations, or other functions of the toy.
Where a dinosaur toy incorporates RF, Bluetooth, or another wireless communication technology, the product should be assessed based on its operating frequency, transmission power, transmitter, receiver, wireless module, antenna, and final product configuration.
Indonesia’s current telecommunications equipment and device certification framework is governed by Minister of Communication and Informatics Regulation Number 3 of 2024, which remains in force and repealed Regulation Number 16 of 2018. JDIH Komdigi
Do Dinosaur Toys Require Postel Certification?
Not every dinosaur toy has the same telecommunications characteristics.
A basic electronic dinosaur toy may contain motors, lights, speakers, or touch sensors without using radio communication.
A remote control or Bluetooth dinosaur, however, contains wireless communication functions that need to be technically assessed.
The certification approach should therefore be determined from the actual radio configuration rather than the product name alone.
Remote Control Dinosaur Toys
Many interactive dinosaur toys are supplied with a wireless controller.
The controller generally contains a transmitter that sends commands to a receiver installed inside the dinosaur toy.
These commands may control walking, head and tail movement, sound effects, lighting, or other interactive functions.
Because the controller forms part of the communication system, both the toy and controller should be included in the technical assessment.
Transmitter and Receiver Assessment
The remote controller normally acts as the primary transmitter while the toy contains the receiver.
Some advanced products may use two-way communication, meaning the toy itself may also transmit information.
The assessment should therefore identify the transmitter, receiver, RF chipset or module, antenna, frequency, and communication configuration.
This information can normally be obtained from product datasheets, controller specifications, module documentation, or RF laboratory reports.
Operating Frequency
Operating frequency is an important part of the Postel assessment.
Different manufacturers may use different radio configurations even when their toys have similar commercial features.
Indonesia’s class-license spectrum framework is governed by Regulation Number 2 of 2023 as amended by Minister of Communication and Digital Regulation Number 2 of 2025, which remains in force. JDIH Komdigi
The actual frequency range used by the toy and controller therefore needs to be compared with the applicable Indonesian spectrum and Technical Standard requirements.
Dinosaur Toys and Short Range Devices
Many remote control toys use relatively short-range radio links and may fall within technical categories associated with Short Range Devices.
Minister of Communication and Informatics Decision Number 260 of 2024 remains listed in DJID’s current regulatory database as the Technical Standard for Short Range Devices. Postel
However, short communication range does not automatically mean that the product is exempt from Postel Certification.
Frequency, output power, modulation, bandwidth, wireless modules, and the intended radio function still need to be assessed.
Dinosaur Toys with Bluetooth
Bluetooth may be incorporated into interactive dinosaur toys for smartphone control, pairing, configuration, sound functions, or app-based games.
When Bluetooth is included, the assessment should identify the Bluetooth module, version, output power, antenna, and final radio configuration.
Current DJID certificate records continue to show Bluetooth equipment certified with Ministerial Decision Number 260 of 2024 as the technical reference. e-Sertifikasi
Where a dinosaur toy includes both proprietary RF remote control and Bluetooth, both wireless functions should be reviewed.
Toys with Multiple Wireless Functions
Some dinosaur toys may offer more than one method of wireless control.
For example, one product may use proprietary RF for its remote controller and Bluetooth for smartphone connectivity.
Each radio function should be identified separately, including its operating frequency, output power, module, antenna, and intended purpose.
The complete wireless configuration is important because certification should not be determined from only one of several radio functions present in the final product.
Does Low Transmission Power Mean an Exemption?
Not automatically.
Regulation Number 3 of 2024 contains a specific provision for certain other equipment incorporating telecommunications features below 10 mW and only one identical telecommunications feature.
Where all regulatory conditions are fulfilled, one Certificate may cover more than one variant. JDIH Komdigi
This provision concerns certificate coverage for qualifying variants. It should not be interpreted as a general certification exemption for every low-power wireless toy.
Is a Certified RF Module Sufficient?
Not necessarily.
An RF or Bluetooth module certificate can support the assessment, but the final dinosaur toy still needs to be reviewed.
Integration into the toy may involve a different antenna, output power, firmware, enclosure, or radio configuration.
Module documentation should therefore be compared with the actual specifications of the final product.
This helps confirm whether the existing module documents are relevant to the configuration being certified.
Documents for Postel Certification
For an initial assessment, companies should generally prepare:
- Photos of the toy and remote controller.
- Brand and model.
- Product datasheet and user manual.
- RF module or controller datasheet.
- Operating frequency and transmission power.
- RF test report, where available.
Where Bluetooth or another wireless technology is incorporated into the product, the relevant module documentation should also be provided.
Manufacturer information and country of manufacture should be confirmed as well.
Testing Requirements
Testing requirements depend on the actual radio technology, product configuration, applicable Indonesian Technical Standards, and available laboratory reports.
A foreign RF report may provide useful supporting information, but it should be reviewed against the model, module, operating frequency, output power, antenna, and test standard.
CE, FCC, or other foreign compliance documents do not automatically replace DJID/SDPPI Certification.
A technical review should therefore be completed before deciding whether additional testing is required.
Can Several Dinosaur Toy Models Share One Certificate?
Possibly, depending on their technical characteristics and the applicable regulatory requirements.
Differences in colour, size, or body design do not necessarily mean that the wireless hardware is different.
The assessment should compare RF modules, controllers, frequencies, transmission power, antennas, wireless functions, brand, type, and other technical parameters.
Regulation Number 3 of 2024 provides a specific mechanism under which more than one variant may be covered by a single Certificate when the applicable conditions are fulfilled. JDIH Komdigi
Model grouping should therefore be assessed before the certification application is submitted.
Our Postel Certification Process for Dinosaur Toys
Biruni Consulting can assist from the initial technical assessment through the DJID/SDPPI Certification process.
The assessment begins by identifying the wireless technology, transmitter, receiver, operating frequency, transmission power, module, antenna, and exact product model.
Available datasheets and RF reports are then reviewed to determine the relevant Technical Standards and testing requirements.
Once the technical and administrative requirements have been established, the process can continue with certification-document preparation, testing coordination where required, and DJID/SDPPI Certification assistance.
Certificate Period for Import Activities
Under Regulation Number 3 of 2024, the Certificate itself is not subject to a fixed expiration period.
However, the Certificate holder may manufacture, assemble, or import the relevant equipment for trade and/or use in Indonesia for up to three years from the Certificate issuance date. JDIH Komdigi
Where these activities continue beyond that period, the applicable provisions for renewed technical compliance and a new Certificate need to be followed.
Companies planning recurring imports should therefore monitor the Certificate issuance date.
Postel Labeling for Dinosaur Toys
Certified products are also subject to labeling requirements.
Regulation Number 3 of 2024 requires labels to include the Certificate number and PLG ID, QR Code, and warning sign. The regulation generally requires labeling on the device and packaging, with special provisions where the device is too small. JDIH Komdigi
Because dinosaur toys may have irregular surfaces or limited areas suitable for regulatory markings, labeling should ideally be considered before mass production or commercial shipment.
Postel Certification and Toy Compliance
Postel/DJID Certification focuses on telecommunications and wireless communication functions incorporated into the dinosaur toy.
Toy safety and other product-compliance requirements address different aspects of the product.
Postel Certification therefore does not automatically replace applicable toy safety requirements.
Likewise, compliance with toy-product requirements does not automatically satisfy DJID/SDPPI requirements for RF or Bluetooth communication.
Why Pre-Import Assessment Matters
Dinosaur toys with similar appearances can contain different RF chipsets, controllers, antennas, or firmware configurations.
A manufacturer may also change radio components depending on the intended country or production batch.
Completing an assessment before mass production or shipment helps identify Technical Standards, testing requirements, manufacturer documentation, certificate scope, model-grouping possibilities, and labeling requirements before the products enter Indonesia.
Conclusion
Postel Certification services for dinosaur toys help businesses determine DJID/SDPPI requirements for products incorporating remote control, Bluetooth, RF, or other wireless technologies.
Operating frequency, transmission power, transmitters, receivers, RF modules, antennas, controllers, and the complete radio configuration should be reviewed.
An assessment before importation or mass production can help businesses prepare certification, testing, technical documentation, model grouping, and labeling more accurately.
